Irving Penn: Diverse Worlds

Otsustasin teha ühe vahepealse postituse, mis kindlasti võib tihti juhtuma hakata!

Nimelt, käisin täna kooliga seoses KUMU-s seminaril ning kui juba sinna sattusin läksin veel kord ka vaatama Irving Penni fotonäitust, mis on seal juba suve algusest saati olnud. Tahtsin veidike reklaami teha nendele, kes pole veel näitusel käinud, kuna tegemist on äärmiselt huvitava väljapanekuga!

Tegemist on ameeriklasest fotograafiga, kes on eelkõige tuntud oma moefotode, portreede ning vaikelude seeriate poolest.  Tema karjääri üheks põhilisemaks osaks oli töötamine ajakirja Vogue tarbeks ning ta on teinud ka reklaamtöid klientidele nagu Issey Miyake ja Clinique.

Kuna ma olen suur mustvalgete fotode fanaatik, siis sellel näitusel ei suutnud ma oma vaimustust tagasi hoidagi, sest enamus üleval olevatest töödest ongi monokroomsed. Seal on väga palju huvitavat vaadata ja uurida ning kõigele on väga intrigeerivalt lähenetud. Usun, et kõik leiavad sealt endale midagi erilist.

Täna käisime analüüsimas näitust nimega "Kriitika ja kriisid", mis annab ülevaate kunstist Külma sõja ajal. Seal näeb üpriski palju modernset kunsti ning igal teosel on mingi sügavam tähendus ühiskondlikust aspektist lähtudes. See oli väga hariv seminar ning soovitan ka sinna kõigil pilku peale viskama minna!

Because of a seminar I went to KUMU today and since I was there I decided to use the opportunity to go see the photo exhibition of Irving Penn's work once again. The exhibition has been there since the beginning of the summer. I wanted to advertise the exhibition for the people who haven't been to see it yet, because it is a highly interesting exhibition!

Irving Penn is an American photographer who is best known for his fashion photographs, portraits and still life series. One of the main part of his career was working for Vogue magazine and he has also done advertising work for clients such as Issey Miyake and Clinique.

Since I'm a huge fan of black and white photos, I couldn't hold back my excitement, because the majority of his work is monochromatic. There is loads of interesting work to see and explore and everything is intriguingly approached. I believe, everyone can find something special for themselves from the exhibition.

Your last chance to see the exhibition is the 6th October. So go for it!

Today, we analysed the exhibtion called "Critique and Crisis", which gives an overview of the art during the Cold War. There is quite a lot of modern art and each work has a deeper meaning in social terms. It was a really educational seminar and I recommend to go see it as well!
